He smiled at the compliment. “Really? you think so?” After Tiana had made the swamp gumbo. they all enjoyed it. it was so delicious. “You are really talented, Tiana.” He smiled. Ray interrupted everything. “There she is. my evangeline.” everyone looked around and no one saw another firefly. he was talking about a star up in the sky. Ray went on Singing about her. Naveen held out his Hand. “Oh no i dont dance” Tiana said. Naveen looked at her. “If i can mince, then you can Dance.”
They started dancing all around the bayou and as Ray began to end, Naveen dipped Tiana and they were about to kiss. Tiana opened her eyes and saw what was about to happen. She pulled back looking at him. “Lottie is getting herself one heck of a dance partner. We… best be pushing on.”
He rubbed the back of his neck then forced himself into a smile. “uh excuse me for one moment, i need to use the man’s froggie room” He rushed behinds some bushes. “How stupid of me. she would never want to kiss me. why was i even trying?” He paced back and forth. he heard something. “Guys?” He questioned. but to his surprise a shadow had grabbed a hold of him, keeping him from Yelling for help. How was he going to get out of this? ZAP! a bright flash of light hit the shadow, making it disappear. He stood up. an old woman with a snake was coming out from the bushes. “Hah! Not bad for a hundred and ninety seven year old blind lady. now which one of ya’ll has been messing with the shadow man?”
Louis, Tiana and Ray all pointed at Naveen who sat in the bayou. Sheepishly his hand went up. “We’re so glad we found you Mama Odie. Ray and Louis here have been telling us all about you. We’ve been traveling such a long way and you can’t imagine what we’ve been through and we…” Mama Odie interrupted Tiana and started calling for her pet snake named Juju. Mama Odie talked to Ray for a little as she went to sit in her chair and as she sat down she pulled out her hand from her pocket, lint and hairs, a key and candy sat in her palm. “Y’all want some candy?” she asked them. They recoiled disgusted. “Well now, that’s too bad. This is a special candy. Woulda turn y’all human.” With that she popped the candy into her mouth. Tiana and Naveen screamed no and Mama Odie doubled over in a fit of laughter.
“I’m just kidding ya’ll.” Mama Odie smiled. “How did you know we wanted to become human?” Tiana had asked what Naveen was thinking. Mama Odie ushered them over to a tub filled with Gumbo. Naveen watched as Tiana critic’d Mama Odie’s gumbo. “Hit it with some hot sauce and it’ll be the bees knees.” juju poured some hot sauce in their for the blind woman. Odie let out a scream of joy when she tasted it. Naveen couldn’t help but smile at the way Tiana took charge of everything when it came to food. He liked that about her. He liked alot things about her. His thoughts were interrupted when he saw Lottie show up in the gumbo. Mama Odie had said that the spell would be broken if he kissed a princess and Lottie was a princess. well technically a princess since her father was King of the mardi gras parade but that would end at midnight. so they had to hurry.
“Hop along you better get to swimming, there’s a lot of river between here and New Orleans.” Mama Odie started pushing them all out after Louis had his little fantasy. “I got a better idea!” They all jumped on board the Dixie Belle Riverboat and they saw these shadows of men with guns. They all freaked out and Tiana and Naveen hid in behind some crates but Louis being so big couldn’t hide so he just sat still. The men came up and they didn’t have guns they were in costume for Mardi Gras. They complimented Louis on his costume and asked if he wanted to sit in with them. He jumped at the chance. Tiana giggled. “We can’t miss this, Louis playing with the big boys.” Tiana started hopping after Louis with Ray. She didn’t see Naveen. Looking back he sat there. “Naveen you coming?”
“Oh yeah. I’ll Be there in a bit. go on without me.” He smiled. He sat down once they were all out of view. Too many thoughts were running through Naveen’s head. He was feeling things for Tiana that he had never felt before in his life. He actually Loved her. he saw a pearl necklace and some wire and handmade an engagement ring and put it in the shell of a walnut. “I’ll get a job or many of jobs as i need to get Tiana her restaurant.” He spoke softly to himself. He looked up at Evangeline and held the ring up to her acting like it was Tiana. “Tiana, these last couple days have been quite the adventure. i don’t want to marry Lottie, i want to Marry you. I love you.” Naveen was almost knocked down by Ray. “oh naw you ain’t making goo goo eyes at my woman.” Naveen Pushed Ray Away. “No i dont love Evangeline. I love Tiana. I’m going to Propose to her tonight.” Naveen smiled at his friend.
Naveen had a surprise planned for Tiana. He went and got her. “What are we doing up here?” Tiana Asked. “Well i thought we would celebrate our last night as frogs.”
